Dear Friends
We have just had the sensational Viking May Bank Holiday event with large crowds roaring and cheering! It was wonderful with all the hedgerows and trees springing with blossom providing a picture frame for the castle looking it’s best.
We have a packed month ahead with our bridal fayre on Sunday 8th May A must for those looking for a real castle in the heart of England. This is followed on 28th and 29th May by our annual 1940’s event with extraordinary costumes for civilians and armed forces alike on both sides of the war. The sight of these enactors is so accurate it is really impressive. There are vintage stalls to enjoy too. This event is traditionally the second May bank holiday, but of course this year we have the Jubilee to look forward to in early June. More to follow on those exciting few days over the next fortnight .
We have a new monologue presentation that is really remarkable. At the bottom of this letter, you will see an image of Olivia who is playing a slave in 18th century England just before abolition. Her tale is both moving and accurate about the lives of some slaves. Carefully researched the script is well balanced and Olivia is not only an actor but also a qualified teacher. Available to schools the general public or special interest groups do call 01283 812129 to find out more.
Thanks to all of you who have shared this new life of the castle as we have re-opened properly after such a long time.
We send best wishes to all getting married with us this year and do look at the utterly romantic midsummer solstice handfasting, details to be found on this site. A midsummer night’s dream indeed for re-taking vows and making new ones with a sense of gratitude.
With very best wishes
