Wolf Moon
Mary Dudley, a distant cousin of Elizabeth I’s favourite expects a quiet summer at her country estate, Somersal Hall. However, her peace is shattered when two gruesome murders are discovered nearby, and Mary soon finds both her own health and her sanity under threat as a dangerous plot against the Crown emerges, centred on nearby Tutbury Castle.
Lesley Smith is former Curator of Tutbury Castle in Staffordshire, and is well known for her costumed portrayal of historical characters across the centuries. Her main interest is in the Tudor period, and she has published extensively on the history of medicine, which was the subject of her MPhil thesis. Wolf Moon is her first novel.
Regular Price: £16 (including p&p)
Wicked Thames
It is the late spring of 1569, and Mary Queen of Scots is already a prisoner in England, and plots are already developing to secure her release. The obvious plots are focused on Mary herself, in her prisons in Staffordshire and Derbyshire, but in London, something stranger is taking place. The city is awash with rumours of witchcraft, and of angels speaking through walls. These are focused in the poorer areas, but at the same time there are apparent suicides of wealthy young women in the better parts of the city. Are the two connected, and is this about more than just witchcraft and murder?
The advisors of Queen Elizabeth have to consider the possibility of a Catholic plot instigated by foreign Catholics seeking to undermine the queen by creating the signs and omens that signal the collapse of a nation?
Agents Mary Dudley and physician John Ince are tasked to seek out the real reasons for these dark happenings.
Regular Price: £13 (including p&p)
